In 1930, activists who worked in the KPG gathered to organize the Korea Independence Party. The Korea Independence Party decided to organize the Counter Intelligence Corps to assassinate the Japanese leadership and destroy colonial organizations, an undertaking that they entrusted to Kim. This led Kim Koo to install the Korean Patriotic Corps.

He recruited his troops from among youth people and secured funding to make bombs from Korean residents in the Americas. His goal was to attack the Japanese invaders head on, and in April 1932, patriot Yun Bong-gil carried out the assassination in Hongkew Park, Shanghai. In January that same year, Yi Bong-chang attempted to assassinate the Japanese emperor in Tokyo.

The patriotic deeds of Yi Bong-chang and Yun Bong-gil are regarded as the most notable achievements of the Counter Intelligence Corps, along with the assassination of Ito Hirobumi, then Resident-General of Korea, by Ahn jung-gun. These events served to validate the existence of the Korean Provisional Government and inspired the Korean people to fight for the country¡¯s independence and national sovereignty.
